travel photography > Arizona

In April we traveled out west again to Arizona, first to celebrate the marriage of a good friend of mine from college, and second to hike around the grand canyon. The wedding took place in Tucson, a little city in the middle of the desert surrounded by mountains and saguaro cacti. Our first full day was spent hiking in Saguaro National Park and visiting the Desert Museum where we learned about venomous reptiles. That evening the wedding was held at the beautiful resort the Arizona Inn. The next morning we woke early and after a yummy breakfast we headed north to the Grand Canyon's South Rim. It was a long drive and as we got further north the scenery changed from the arid cactus filled desert to mountainous pine filled forests. Monday morning we hiked a couple miles down into the mighty canyon and then back up (good workout). We traveled to the east side of the south rim, saw a deer, went up into the watch tower, and then headed back to our little lodge to rest and shower before dinner. As we rested temperatures dropped 30degrees and snow fell - something we were not prepared for. Oh well, traveling is an adventure right?
