Our final stop in California was Sonoma, a quaint westerny city. The drive from Mendocino was beautiful, rolling hills covered with vineyards. When we got into the town we headed towards the main area, a large square surrounded by shops, restaurants and the historic barracks. After walking around and grabbing a refreshment we headed to our bed & breakfast, Sonoma Chalet, where we rented out a secluded cottage for our two night stay. Sara's cottage was adorable. It had a large wrap around porch covered with plants, a cozy king size bed, and wonderful decor. We fell in love. The next day we woke up early for breakfast on the main patio and then headed to our first winery, Buena Vista Winery. After a couple tastes there and a nice stroll on their grounds we headed to Gloria Ferrer Sparkling Wine Caves where we had some nuts and a glass of wonderful bubbly on their terrace. Later we took a tour of the caves. We tasted white and red grapes, saw where the crushed the grapes, and the caves with massive barrels of wine fermenting. We then headed to one more winery, Jacuzzi Family Vineyards. This was a very interesting winery because the Jacuzzi family were also the same people who invented the Jacuzzi and had 50+ patents. Such go-getters. After filling up on more wine imaginable we headed to our cottage for a nap before dinner. Waking up well rested we headed to the main square where we had probably the best dinner on the trip. A wonderful way to end our week vacation in California.
